whenever i would walk on the sidewalk with my grandma, she’d tell me to move over so that she’d be able to walk alongside the curb. she did this because if there were ever an accident, she didn’t want me to be hit first.

now i intentionally position myself next to the curb whenever i walk with people, just because.
